Dear Magnet Parent or Guardian,
                                                                     
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year.  For those whose students have just joined Cleveland Magnet, welcome to one of the nation’s best programs in the study of humanities.  For those whose students are returning for another exciting year, welcome back.  As Cleveland Magnet parents, I am confident you will see your children make great strides as critical thinkers and as writers in rigorous preparation for higher education.

This year, your support is more important than ever.  One of the keys to our success is the level of monetary and volunteer support we receive from parents.  It provides our students extraordinary experiences, enriching activities and much-needed supplies.   With California’s State budget crisis and the resulting cuts made to LAUSD, maintaining the excellence of our Magnet depends on a strong commitment from our parent body to ensure our students receive the highest quality education. 

Our fundraising goal is $50,000.  We are grateful for any amount you are willing to donate.  However, in order to provide our students with the resources they need, our target is a contribution of $250.00 per family.  Larger and smaller contributions are much appreciated.  Most importantly, we are aiming for 100% participation from our Magnet families at the level with which you are comfortable contributing.

This money directly supports our students.  Monies raised will go towards Magnet activities and supplies that support the education of our students.  The details of spending are discussed at our monthly Magnet Parents Association meetings.  We encourage you to attend.

Please support us now.  This fundraising drive starts now, but donations will be accepted throughout the year.  Donations can even be made in installments.  You may mail your contribution in the enclosed envelope or donate on-line at www.humanitiesmagnet.org.  Please make checks payable to “Cleveland High School Booster Club” and note your contribution is for the MAGNET. Remember, all contributions are tax-deductible (Tax ID #95-4823189).
